The Pickleball Legacy Scholarship Foundation will now award higher education scholarship funds in two ways. The past few years, the PLS has awarded 2 girls and 2 boys at the US Open and the USAP Nationals with . Beginning in 2023, a new award will be introduced, the Merit Award.
The Merit Award will allow pickleball juniors from across the country to apply for this scholarship award in the amount of $1000.
Timeline: Application window will open October 1st each year and close January 31st of the following year (four full months). All submissions must be completed in their entirety by the cutoff date (Jan 31st), or they will be DISCARDED. The respective Review Committtees will review the applications and submit their “finalists” to the Board by March 31st. The Board will discuss and vote a final single winner by May 1st. The winner announcement will go public May 6th (defined as the first Monday of May for future years).
Application “Regions” will be divided as West, Central, East.
West Region: ND, SD, NE, MT, WY, CO, NM, ID, UT, AZ, WA, OR, NV, CA, AK, HI
Central Region: KS, OK, TX, MN, IA, MO, AR, LA, WI, IL, MI, IN, OH, KY, TN, MS
East Region: AL, WV, PA, NY, VT, ME, NH, MA, NJ, DE, CT, RI, MD, VA, NC, SC, GA, FL
